Why this exists

Body composition testing in metro Atlanta is oddly hard to just… buy. The options tend to be a gym that wants you on a membership, a clinic that wants you in a programme, or a medical imaging centre that wants a referral from a physician you would have to go and see first.

Basemarks is the straightforward version. You book a scan, you pay for a scan, someone competent explains the results to you, and you leave with your report. That is the entire business model. There is nothing to upgrade to.

What we will and won't say

The category has a marketing problem. Body composition gets sold with longevity scores, biological age estimates and disease-risk predictions layered on top of what is, underneath, a good measurement.

We would rather give you the measurement, tell you honestly how precise it is and what it cannot tell you, and let you decide what to do with it. That is why the scan page carries citations for every number on it, and why it has a section about the limits of the test — which is not, as far as we can tell, something anyone else in this market publishes.

Your data

This website carries no advertising trackers, no analytics tags, no session recorders and no third-party scripts of any kind. That is a deliberate architectural decision, not an oversight we intend to fix later.

The reason is straightforward: pages about health services reveal health intent, and the ad networks that would ordinarily be embedded in them are not entitled to know that you were reading this. We would rather have less marketing data and be able to tell you plainly that we do not share yours. What we collect and why is set out in our privacy policy.

Clinical oversight

Scanning at Basemarks will be performed under a licensed Georgia physician's written standing order, and every guest will complete a health screening questionnaire beforehand. We are putting that arrangement in place now, and we will name our medical director here, with credentials, once it is signed.

Worth being precise about what this will be. Georgia requires that X-ray-based testing be performed under a physician's written standing order — a protocol governing who may be scanned and how they are screened. It is not a consultation. Nobody becomes anyone's patient, no examination takes place, and nobody here diagnoses anything.

Two of the three established body composition studios in metro Atlanta say nothing whatsoever about clinical governance. We would rather over-explain it.
